Iriga City Sends Off Eight Student Athletes to 66th Palarong Pambansa

    Eight student athletes from Iriga City are set to represent the city as part of the Region V Bicol contingent in the 66th Palarong Pambansa, officially billed as the 2026 Palaro Tu Agsur, to be held in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur from May 24 to 31, 2026.

    The following student athletes will carry the banner of Iriga City as part of the Region V Bicol contingent:

    Katlyn Claire T. Litan β€” Athletics, Secondary Girls

    Marielle B. Navales β€” Athletics, Secondary Girls

    Precious Khatleen B. Awa β€” Billiards, Secondary Girls

    Basil Dominic C. Orbon β€” Taekwondo, Secondary Boys

    Dwayne Andrei B. Nojara β€” Tennis, Secondary Boys

    Kailyn Ines M. Iraola β€” Softball, Secondary Girls

    Jolly M. Arrabis β€” Bocce

    Ana Maria B. Valenzuela β€” Swimming Ortho, Secondary Girls

    In recognition of their achievement and in support of their preparation for the national games, the City Government of Iriga extended financial assistance to the student athletes during an awarding ceremony held on May 18, 2026 at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall, attended by Councilor Jor-El O. Caayao, Chair of the Committee on Education, and Councilor Roseller Y. Orolfo. Coaches, trainers, and chaperones accompanying the delegation also received financial assistance, recognizing the important role they play in the team’s overall performance and welfare.

    During the Iriga City Local School Board meeting held on May 18, 2026, Mayor Rex C. Oliva personally welcomed the student athletes and wished them well as they prepare to compete on the national stage. He also committed to rewarding medal winners with incentives of P50,000 for gold, P30,000 for silver, and P20,000 for bronze, a pledge that drew excitement from the young athletes and underscored the city government’s strong backing for student sports excellence.

    Iriga City wishes its eight delegates the very best as they take on the country’s brightest young athletes and make the city proud at the 66th Palarong Pambansa.
