Iriga City was honored as a regional nominee for the Kalinaw Award in the Faith-based Destination category of the Philippine Tourism Awards during the Bicol Tourism Stakeholders Conference and Recognition 2024 on November 14 held at La Piazza Hotel Convention Center, Legazpi City.
This nomination, part of the Philippine Tourism Awards for the Bicol Region, recognizes the city’s initiative, “Religious Exploration Circuit in Iriga City,” and its efforts in promoting faith-based tourism.
Mayor Rex C. Oliva and Head of Iriga Culture, Heritage, Arts and Tourism (iCHAT) Engr. Nona Vanessa Santiago accepted the award, showcasing the city’s commitment to becoming a leading faith-based tourism destination in the Bicol Region.This recognition, awarded by the Department of Tourism, highlights Iriga’s substantial contribution to promoting faith-based tourism.
The Kalinaw Award is part of a prestigious program that acknowledges tourism players with impactful initiatives in the industry. The event gathered various stakeholders, showcasing excellence in tourism promotion, innovation, and cultural preservation.
