Iriga City Sports Center was abuzz with excitement in an unparalleled tribute given by Mayor Rex Oliva to the modern-day heroes to honor hundreds of public school teachers from primary and secondary levels during this year’s Teacher’s Day Celebration on Friday, October 4.
In a grand gesture that left everyone talking, teachers were treated to one-of-a-kind celebration, complete with cash incentives, doubling the excitement and recognition they deserve.
A touching moment came when the teachers were awarded cash incentives, courtesy of Mayor Rex Oliva, Governor Luigi Villafuerte, and Congressmen Lray Villafuerte and Migz Villafuerte, as a gesture of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
One of the highlights of the event was the moving tribute to teachers, performed by representatives from the Central, North, South, and Secondary Districts. This was followed by the highly anticipated “Teachers’ Got Talent” showcase, where teachers exhibited their creativity and talent in various performances that left the audience cheering.
The event was graced by several notable figures, including Vice Governor Sal Fortuno Jr., Board Member Shai Fajardo Noble, Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat, and a lineup of councilors—Dandreb Abonite, Nikki Lagrimas, Melnan Murallo-Asanza, Jeff Tino, Jessie Abonite, JM Grimaldo, Jun Santos Audal, Boboy Guevara. Honorable BP ROSS Orolfo, Executive Secretary Jor-el Caayao, and City Administrator Atty. Maharlika Ramon C. Oaferina also attended the occasion.
The celebration concluded with a strong sense of camaraderie and recognition, reinforcing the vital role teachers play in shaping the future not just of Iriga City but of the nation.
