The City Agriculture Office, headed by Argay B. Ramirez, RArg., together with the City Veterinary Office headed by Dr. Mark Kevin I. Badiola, Acting City Veterinarian, served as the electoral board for the election of officers for the City Agricultural and Fishery Council (CAFC), with a total of 22 registered farmer cooperatives and associations (FCAs) participating in the activity, 10 of which are newly registered members of the council. CAFC officers serve a three-year term, with elections conducted every second week of July. DILG representative Michael Z. Cornelio and COMELEC representative Jazle P. Decatoria served as mandatory representatives to oversee the proceedings.
The CAFC serves as an advisory body to the local government on matters concerning agriculture and fishery, particularly enterprise development initiatives aimed at higher productivity and increased income for local farmers and fisherfolk.

Later in the afternoon, the newly elected council members paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Rex C. Oliva at the City Mayor’s Office, where the mayor congratulated them on their election and welcomed their continued partnership with the City Government.
With the newly elected officers now in place, the CAFC is set to work closely with the City Government in the coming term, bringing the perspectives of farmers and fisherfolk directly into the planning and implementation of agricultural programs across Iriga City.
