Iriga City marked another milestone in its journey toward progress with the groundbreaking ceremony of a 5-storey mixed-use commercial building on January 15, 2025, at Barangay San Francisco. Spearheaded by the City Government of Iriga under the leadership of Mayor Rex C. Oliva, this project is a testament to the ARRIBA administration’s commitment to development and economic growth.
The event was attended by notable guests, including Mr. Jay Percival S. Ablan, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Camarines Sur; members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod; Punong Barangays of Iriga City; and Engr. Solomon Ngo. In his remarks, Dir. Ablan commended the city for this initiative, citing its potential to uplift businesses and generate employment opportunities.
In his speech, Mayor Rex emphasized that this project is an initiative of the City Government of Iriga, demonstrating the administration’s proactive approach to addressing the city’s economic needs. He extended his gratitude to Dir. Ablan and DTI Region V for their support while highlighting that the building is part of a broader land development strategy. He also shared updates on other ongoing projects, such as the city hospital’s land development and the upcoming groundbreaking for Central Business District II, made possible with support from the Provincial Capitol and Congressman Migz Villafuerte. He noted that the building would help decongest Central Business District I and create more opportunities for local businesses to flourish.
Mayor Rex described the project as a realization of his administration’s OLIVA framework: 𝗢spital (hospital), 𝗟ocal College, 𝗟ivelihood, 𝗜nvestments and Infrastructure Industry, 𝗩alues Formation, and 𝗔dvocacy for all sectors of society. “This project is a clear manifestation of the city’s vision and dedication to holistic development,” he said.
