In pursuit of delivering preventive, diagnostic, and curative services, the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD), led by OIC-Regional Director Dr. Rosa Maria B. Rempillo, visited the Province of Catanduanes to monitor the preparations for the soon-to-open Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) Center in Virac town.

The Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center (BRHMC) will head the operations of the BUCAS center and will provide its equipment and logistics.

Currently, the BRHMC and the Provincial DOH Catanduanes are facilitating the documentary requirements for the opening of the facility this month.

The facility will offer services such as minor surgeries, laboratory tests, and other urgent care needs. It will also refer patients to higher-level facilities if necessary.

The Governor’s Mansion, which is located in the center of Virac, Catanduanes, will serve as the BUCAS center and will offer free outpatient services to the Catandunganons.

This initiative pushes to make outpatient health services more accessible to nearby communities and alleviate the burden of hospitals, thereby bridging the gap between primary care facilities and hospitals.
