The Bicol Region Athletic Association (BRAA) kicked off their Palarong Pambansa 2025 campaign with a strong start, clinching their first win against the BARMMAA team in the Men’s Football division. The match, held on the 24th of May in Ilocos Norte, ended in a clean sheet for BRAA, as they blanked Calabarzon with a commanding performance scoring 6-0.
The team’s full hearted playstyle and tight defensive line limited BARMMAA chances on goal, showcasing Bicol’s preparation and hunger for a win this year.
“This is just the beginning for elimination round. We still have a lot of games to play, but this win is a huge confidence booster for the team.” said BRAAs coach Mark Anthony L. Esparza in a phone call interview.
The Palarong Pambansa, the Philippines’ premier national sporting event for student-athletes, officially opened this week, bringing together top athletes from 20 athletic associations consisting the 18 regions of the Philippines, the National Sports Academy, and Philippine Schools Oversea. With this win, BRAA sets a promising tone for their overall campaign and sends a clear message that they are contenders to watch this year.
