𝘼𝙡𝙗𝙖𝙮 – In line with Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino’s heightened campaign for preventive labor law compliance, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol brought technical advisory services to 110 micro-establishments in the towns of Malilipot, Polangui, and Malinao in the province of Albay.
During the on-site sessions, participating employers received orientation on general labor standards, occupational safety and health (OSH) standards, productivity enhancement tools, child and family welfare programs, and other labor-related policies and programs. The activity also included mandatory First Aid and Safety Orientations pursuant to Department Order No. 252, Series of 2025.
The initiative is part of the Department’s preventive and developmental approach under Department Order No. 238, Series of 2023, and supports the objectives of Republic Act No. 11058 by helping establishments strengthen compliance with labor standards and occupational safety and health requirements through technical assistance and capacity-building interventions.
OIC-Regional Director Atty. Nepomuceno A. Leaño II, CPA, acknowledged the challenges faced by small business owners in balancing compliance requirements with the day-to-day demands of running a business.

𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘰𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘳, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦,” he added.
An action planning workshop was also conducted to help participating establishments identify compliance gaps and develop concrete steps to address them. The workshop provided hands-on guidance on labor standards requirements, including the proper preparation and submission of necessary documents, enabling participants to leave with a clearer understanding of how to comply with labor regulations and implement workplace safety measures in their respective establishments.
The activity covered 50 micro-establishments in Malilipot, 30 establishments in Polangui, and another 30 establishments in Malinao. [END] CMS/JVEG
