Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co has rallied the youth to become beacons of resilience and unity during the Bicol University Olympics 2023.
In a speech, Co stressed that the event goes beyond sports competition as it also demonstrates and promotes flexibility, solidarity, and shared aspirations.
He also reminded participants that they carry the pride and hope of the Bicol region, encouraging a spirit of solidarity and strength in the face of any challenges.
“Ang temang ito ay sumasalamin sa ‘di matatawarang lakas at determinasyon ng bawat Bicolano,” Co said, referring to Bicol University Olympics 2023’s theme “BUeños: Stronger Together Through Sports for Humanity.”
Sports festivals have “the transformative power of integrating sportsmanship within the academic journey” since they cultivate discipline, teamwork, and a profound sense of community — attributes crucial in shaping future leaders — among students. according to the chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations.
“It is through this holistic approach that we can forge our future leaders, individuals who are not only intellectually adept but also embody discipline, teamwork, and, most importantly, a deep sense of community,” Co emphasized.
“Kayo ang patunay na sa pagkakaisa, walang hindi makakaya,” he added.
Co said that the Bicol University Olympics is proof of a well-rounded education system that values physical fitness, mental fortitude, and emotional maturity just as much as academic achievements.
The Bicolano lawmaker has long championed educational opportunities for all Bicolano youth. He has played a pivotal role in youth empowerment through his “Tabang sa Edukasyon” initiative.
In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Tabang sa Edukasyon has provided financial assistance to thousands of students in the Bicol region. This effort is a pillar of Co’s advocacy for a holistic education, ensuring that every Bicolano student receives support in their educational journeys. [END
