As of April 1, 2025, PNP Bicol has arrested 46 individuals for violating the nationwide gun ban imposed during the election period. The ban, which began earlier this year, is part of the efforts to ensure peaceful and orderly elections during the upcoming midterm polls.

The 46 arrests were the result of proactive law enforcement measures, including police response operations, anti-illegal drug operations, checkpoint inspections, and gun buy-bust operations.

The operations led to the confiscation of 48 assorted firearms and 256 rounds of ammunition. These seizures are crucial in reducing the potential for violence in the lead-up to the election and are seen as a major achievement in the fight against illegal weapons circulation.

The gun ban, which is enforced by the PNP in coordination with the COMELEC, restricts the carrying of firearms by civilians, including private security personnel, during the election period. The goal is to prevent gun-related incidents, which have been a significant issue in previous elections, where political violence and election-related killings have marred the democratic process.

PNP Bicol remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining order and ensuring the safety of voters and candidates. It continues to monitor the region closely, with additional checkpoints and security operations expected as the election date approaches.
