Heroes need not launch revolutions, nor die for a cause. They can just be simple folk who chose to be honest while on the job.

Such was the case for Lipata Ferry Terminal outsourced personnel Owen Santillana and Joel Gildore when they found a black pouch at the men’s room of the terminal’s arrival area today – which happens to be the National Heroes Day, a public holiday celebrating heroes of the Philippine Revolution.

Santillana and Gildore immediately turned over the pouch to the terminal’s officer on duty, Ronald Jim Centural, who in turned tried to get in touch with the owner through contact details stated on the Identification Cards found inside the pouch.

Within minutes, the grateful owner, a certain Felito Sallave, showed up to claim his pouch containing ATM Cards, IDs and other important papers. A resident of Iloilo City, Sallave said that he was already on board the vessel when he received the call informing him that his pouch was found by port personnel. (Vinz Eviota)
