Camp Col. Romeo A. Abendan, Zamboanga City – A high-value target (HVT) drug personality was killed after resisting arrest and engaging raiding teams in a shootout during law enforcement operation conducted by joint operatives of drug enforcement unit of Zamboanga City Police Office, Regional Intelligence Unit 9, Regional Intelligence Division 9 and police units of Police Regional Office 10 at Brgy. Bulua, Cagayan De Oro City at 11:00 PM, July 31, 2020.
PBGEN. Jesus D. Cambay, Jr, PRO9 Regional Director identified the neutralized drug suspect as Mayong Ilang Kamlaon, Top-3 Regional Priority Target on illegal drugs of PRO9 (Top-1 Zamboanga City Level), of legal age, male, HVI level 2 under Karanain Drug Group and a resident of Brgy. Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City.
The operation was conducted by virtue of Warrant of Arrest for violation of sec. 5, Art II of R.A. 9165, docketed under Criminal Case No. 40511, issued and signed by Judge of RTC9, Branch 9, Zamboanga City. Recovered from his possession were one hand grenade, one-unit caliber .45 pistol with magazine loaded with live ammunition and one sling bag with magazine.
The Regional Director said that it is unfortunate that the law enforcement operation has resulted in the untimely demise of the drug suspect a.k.a. Mayong. While we tried to save everyone’s life either of the operating teams or of the accused, surrounding circumstances have driven the operating units to exercise self-preservation.
Meanwhile, PBGEN. Cambay Jr. lauded the operating units for their notable accomplishment. “The neutralization of accused Mayong has manifested our consistency in PRO9’s Program Thrust to curve down illegal drugs proliferation” he added. (PRO9-PIO)
