Gamboa Reappointed As SSCT President By 6-1 Votes

The Surigao State College of Technology Board of Trustees reappointed Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa Jr. as College President for another 4 years from January 27, 2020 to January 26, 2024.

Gamboa last December 27-29, 2019 received an outstanding rating of 98% from the different sectors’ evaluation to include the faculty, students, admin staff, alumni, CHED Caraga, Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges, community partners, external stakeholders, private sector and university officials. The Board of Trustees received the unanimous recommendation for the renewal of his term as College President.

Congressman Mark Go represented by Marvin Natalicio moved for the non renewal of his term last January 6, 2020. Natalicio manifested that his principal will review and study the evaluation report. The Board approved for the extension or hold over of Gamboa’s position until January 27, 2020 in which on this date, a decision for or against his presidency will be decided by secret balloting.

After 3 hours of deliberation, the Board of Trustees were convinced to go into voting. They issued a signed Resolution No. 8 series of 2020.

2. Simeon Vicente G. Castrence representing Sen. Emmanuel Joel J. Villanueva, Senate Committee Chair on Education, Culture and Arts
3. Director Dominga D. Mallonga, DOST 13
4. Atty. Bonifacio G. Uy, RD NEDA 13
5. Roberto E. Parada Jr., Alumni Fed. President
6. Reyian A. Palomo, SSG Fed. President

Not in favor:
Mervin S. Natalicio representing Cong. Mark O. Go, House Committee Chair on Higher and Technical Education

Gamboa was the 6th SSCT President last January 7, 2016. When SNSAT was converted into State College, Dr. Teresita Tumapon became the 1st President, followed by Dr. Reynaldo T. Peña, CHED RD Joanna B. Cuenca (OIC), Engr. Henry L. Lañada (3rd President), Dr. Jocelyn T. Medina (4th President), Dr. Anastacio P. Martinez (OIC), Dr. Virginia D. Akiate (OIC), Dr. Gloria C. Gemparo (5th), and Dr. Ecclesiastes T. Dumanig (OIC).
