F/Chief Inspector Jacqueline Ortega, Acting District Fire Marshal said, one of the reasons for the decrease in fire incidents is due to the pandemic since everyone is staying at home, their efforts in bringing to the public fire prevention tips, and the cooperation of everyone.

She said everyone must understand that fire prevention is a social obligation. If there is fire everyone will be affected and the feeling of guilt will be there especially if the fire started in your house which causes the misery of your neighbors.

Despite the pandemic, the bureau is continuing their efforts when it comes to fire prevention. They are doing this through social media.

The Acting District Fire Marshal is reminding the public to have the social responsibility when it comes to fire prevention, do not over charge gadgets, unplug those unused appliances, remind helpers especially those cooking to focus on what they are cooking, check for gas leak on your gasul, have your electrical wiring checked, avoid overloading your extension wires, and if possible, every room must have fire extinguishers.

She also assured the Zamboanga City Fire District is prepared to serve together with its fire substations. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
