Enabling Future Leader: 53IB Commander Receives, Inspires New PMA Alumnus

Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur — A recent graduate of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Masaligan” Class of 2021 was received by Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera last 26 May.

Ensign Kent Jayvee Talpis Paglinawan, 24, hails from Barangay Sumadat, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur. He is the only Zambosurian graduate from his class.

While still a Cadet at PMA, Ensign Paglinawan was the Cadet-in-charge of Football Corps Squad and a Member of the Honor Committee.

The young and sterling Officer was also the Company Commander of Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines (CCAFP) Delta Company. During his tenure, Delta Company bagged the Commandant’s Streamer, Jurado Streamer, and Superintendent’s Streamer.

 

He was also a recipient of Military Merit Medal, Military Commendation Medal, Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Operation Ribbon, and Course Excellence Award in Sports and Physical Development Unit (SPDU) subjects.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Herrera shared his insights to enable and inspire the young Officer in his future role as a leader in the Armed Forces.

Lt. Col. Herrera also presented the book “Breaking Free” featuring narrations of actual accounts of young people’s fateful journeys who were recruited and once deceived by the CPP-NPA but were able to surrender and went back to the folds of the law.

Ensign Paglinawan will be serving as an Officer in the Philippine Navy.
