El Cid: Bacolod Not Likely To Appeal GCQ-HR Status

Bacolod City – The city government is not likely to appeal the General Community Quarantine with Heightened Restriction status from August 1 to 15, approved by President Rodrigo Duterte Wednesday evening, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said recently.

Familiaran, who is the chairman of the local Inter-Agency Task Force, said the IATF will review the status of the city and will make recommendations after August 15.

He added that inoculations against Covid-19 in Bacolod continue to gain grounds.

In fact, the vaccination center at the City Mall at Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Brgy. Singcang-Airport will open today to cater to frontline health workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, essential workers, and indigent population.

Aside from City Mall at the Goldenfield complex, Familiaran said the city, through the Emergency Operations Center Task Force, is also negotiating with the management of City Mall in Brgy. Mandalagan for the possible use of the facility as a vaccination center.

As of July 22, Bacolod was able to inoculate 103,925 residents and 29,720 of them have been fully vaccinated, EOC records show.

EOC executive director Em Ang said the Covid situation in Bacolod does not qualify it for stricter quarantine restriction, based on the gate-keeping parameters of the IATF. She added that the number of those infected has also continued to decrease.

In fact, the highest recovery in a day, so far, was recorded at 357 on July 16.

Ang said the vaccination rollout in the malls and other inoculation centers is now smoother after they stopped accepting “walk-in vaccinees”.

She reiterated that residents need to wait for their scheduled vaccination before going to inoculation centers to avoid overcrowding.
