President Rodrigo R. Duterte finally got himself vaccinated against Covid-19 last Monday.

In a statement, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed Duterte received his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine of Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinopharm.

“His first dose was covered by the Compassionate Use Permit issued to the PSG (Presidential Security Group) hospital by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration),” Roque said.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go posted a video of Duterte receiving the vaccine shot from Health Secretary Francisco Duque III.

Currently, FDA has yet to issue an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Sinopharm making unavailable to the public.

PSG drew heavy criticism last year after it was reported they got inoculated with the vaccine without authorization from FDA.

PSG said the vaccine was donated by the Chinese government.

Duterte earlier said he want to be inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine either from Russia or China instead of those manufactured in other Western countries in the Europe or the United States.
