In the midst of the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the city government has cut down a huge chunk on those invited for this year’s commemoration of the country’s 120th Civil Service Month.
City Public Information Officer Dems Rey Demecillo on Friday said that only selected key officials, department heads, and some media personnel totaling around 50 are expected to attend the opening salvo set on Monday.
This is to avoid the unnecessary exposure of city government workers as well as to stem the transmission of the Covid-19, Demecillo said.
The opening salvo at the City Hall will start with a flag ceremony at 7 a.m. to be followed by messages of Civil Service Commission Chairperson Alicia Dela Rosa Bala and Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and a press conference afterward, he said.
CSC chairperson Bala will deliver her message via Zoom, he added.
“And in keeping with health protocols, only the elected officials and department heads will be present during the opening salvo to limit the number of participants who shall be wearing face masks,” Demecillo said.
Body temperature checks will also be done at the venue’s entrance.
In previous years, the Civil Service Month was held with the majority of the city government officials and workers in attendance, usually required to be in a “Filipiniana attire”, in a program held at the City Hall quadrangle.
The city government has more than 1,000 workers.
Mayor Remollo is expected to talk about the activities of the CSC month celebration, infrastructure projects, response to Covid-19, and awards received by the city and employees from 2019 to present, Demecillo said.
