This is to clarify some information regarding a social media post of a certain Jovy Luckao regarding an incident between her father and someone who she claims to be a worker of DSWD Field Office Caraga.
In her post, she claims that her father, a certain Bertolito Janier of Brgy. Pelaez, San Isidro, Surigao del Norte, was involved in an incident during a Social Amelioration Program (SAP) payout in the said barangay. She claims that a certain Genalyn Berol Sucano, who was the person who was the target of her father’s ire and aggression, is a worker of DSWD.
Here are the details that we would like to clarify and correct:
First of all, the payout conducted that time was not for the Social Amelioration Programs but the regular 1st semester payout for the Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens.
Secondly, the above mentioned Ms. Sucano is the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWD Officer) of San Isidro, Surigao del Norte. The MSWD Office is part of the Local Government Unit (LGU), and is not connected or under the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Caraga. It is a separate entity from the DSWD National/Regional Offices.
The Field Office would like to refrain from commenting on the merits of the case/incident because we are not in the authority to do so, given that we were not directly involved when the incident happened. There is also an ongoing case filed, so we leave it to the proper authorities in providing the necessary information regarding the case.
We at the Field Office are hoping for the best resolution for this incident – and we are praying for the welfare and wellbeing of the parties involved.
Amidst the crisis that we are in right now, we are hoping for everyone’s well-being. But above all, we are hoping for the safety of our Field Staff implementing our programs, and our partners from the Local Social Welfare and Development Offices. We condemn all types of harassment to all front-liners.
