DOH: PHL records second highest daily Covid-19 cases at 20,741

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday logged 20,741 additional Covid-19 cases, the second-highest daily number of infections recorded since the start of the pandemic, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,061,084.

There were also 21,962 recoveries and 189 deaths recorded.

Of the total number of infections, 7.6 percent (157,646) are active, 90.7 percent (1,869,376) have recovered, 1.65 percent (34,062) have died.

The DOH said that 225 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 206 are recoveries.

Moreover, 81 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

All laboratories were operational on September 2, 2021 while 5 labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

Based on data in the last 14 days, the 5 non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 1.5 percent of samples tested and 1.8 percent of positive individuals.
