THE Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday logged 20,755 additional Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 2,490,858.
A case bulletin released by the DOH around 5:54 p.m. reported 24,391 recoveries, but no deaths were recorded for three consecutive days.
“No deaths were reported today (Sept.26) due to technical issues in COVIDKaya. The Department of Information and Communications Technology is currently addressing issues encountered by the system. When the issue is resolved, the succeeding increase in deaths in the following reports will be due to the previous days’ backlogs,” the DOH explained.
Responding to BusinessMirror’s query on why there was no data on deaths but there were new cases and recoveries reported, the DOH said, “While COVIDKaya was down, the total cases generated is from the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) data.”
The DOH added: “Recoveries were determined based on time-based guidelines using the previous line list. However, the number of validated deaths can only be sourced from COVIDKaya.”
Of the total number of infections, 6.5 percent (161,447) are active, 92.0 percent (2,292,006) have recovered, 1.50 percent (37,405) have died.
There were 72 duplicates removed from the total case count. Of these, 63 are recoveries.
All laboratories were operational on September 24, 2021 but two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 CDRS.
Based on data in the last 14 days, the two non-reporting labs contribute, on average, 0.1 percent of samples tested and 0.1 percent of positive individuals.
