Dipolog: DSWD FO IX unveils Peace Program with strong Inter-Agency Support

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayapa Program officially launched on April 25, 2025, in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. The event was attended by government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and provincial LGUs from Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Zamboanga City, along with representatives from the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte, key stakeholders, and NPMO staff. The program seeks to promote sustainable peace and inclusive development by addressing conflict and empowering communities.

The launch marked a significant step in the government’s broader peacebuilding efforts, emphasizing the importance of cross-sector collaboration in tackling the root causes of conflict and strengthening community resilience.

Regional Program Coordinator Evelyn Lingatong led the event, ensuring coordination among major peacebuilding and development initiatives such as PAMANA PLAPA, PAMANA-MSAP, the Bangsamoro Program, and the Social Healing Program. The presence of ZAMPEN team members and the Regional Project Management Office (RPMO) underscored a unified commitment to the program’s successful implementation.

Undersecretary for Inclusive-Sustainable Peace and Special Concerns Alan A. Tanjusay addressed stakeholders’ concerns and expressed his full support for the program’s effective execution. DSWD Field Office IX Assistant Regional Director for Operations Ma. Socorro S. Macaso likewise emphasized the importance of unity among implementing partners in improving the lives of program beneficiaries.

Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Governor Dulce Ann K. Hofer warmly welcomed attendees and reaffirmed the provincial government’s strong support for the initiative. She highlighted how peace and development programs contribute to social progress and enhance the quality of life in the province.

The event also garnered robust support from key regional agencies. Attending institutions included the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, the Provincial Peace and Order Council, and the Department of Education, all of which pledged their commitment to the program’s success.

With a foundation of strong cooperation and a shared vision, the Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayapa Program is poised to bring lasting, meaningful change to the communities of Ipil and the broader Zamboanga Peninsula.(Angelica T. Obina)
