The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office IX through its Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Zamboanga del Norte in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Dapitan City facilitates the Marine Protected Area Network on its first year implementation of the DCMPAN Strategic Plan (CY 2022-2026) through the conduct of a 5-day Marine Protected Area Network (MPAN)
ZDN PENRO Cidur Julsadjiri, who represented In Charge Office of the Regional Executive Director Ronald D. Gadot, encouraged the participants to enjoy the learning process as DCMPAN is one of the 59 Marine Protected Area Networks being established and managed in the Philippines.
A total of 50 personnel from different agencies and stakeholders attended the said workshop.
As one of the milestone activity for this year under the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Management Program (CMEMP), the workshop intends to strengthen the management body and capacitate as well the personnel from Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO), Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dapitan, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) together with the officials and personnel of DENR on the proper process and considerations involved in MPA networking and the importance and value of coastal and marine resources and habitat conservation.
