A total of 1,000 mangrove propagules, locally known as “tungki,” were planted, and seven sacks of non-biodegradable waste, weighing approximately 55 kilograms, were collected during the Mangrove Planting and Coastal Clean-Up activity joined by CENRO Piñan and organized by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) in Baylimango, Dapitan City, on September 6. The event was part of the observance of Maritime Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) 2024, with the theme “Pamana ng Karagatan: Para sa Kinabukasan, Ating Ingatan,” and in celebration of the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies.
Seventy-eight individuals participated in the event, including representatives from the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Prudential Customs Brokerage Services, Inc. (PCBSI), Advance Forces Security and Investigation Inc., Dipolog Coconut Oil Mill Inc., and CENRO Piñan.
CENRO Piñan remains committed to environmental protection by supporting initiatives like mangrove planting and cleanup. The activity also fulfilled the requirements of PPA Administrative Order (AO) 14-2020, which mandates tree or mangrove planting for accreditation and contract-related processes, showcasing a strong collaborative effort with stakeholders.
