Davao City – Davao City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 54 on Friday, ordered the arrest of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV for the libel case filed against him by former Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte. Judge Melinda Alconcel- Dayanghirang decided thaht Trillanes must be arrested after he released libelous statements against Duterte and his brother in-law Manases- Carpio.
However, Trillanes had a given a chance to gain his temporary freedom and ordered to set bail at 24,000 pesos. Trillanes last year accused Pulong and Carpio of being involved in extortion and other illegal activities including transporting of narcotics.
The fiercest critics of the President also accused Pulong of being part of a Chinese triad and even claimed that there’s tattoo at the back of the former Vice Mayor that would prove his claims.
Meanwhile, Duterte expressed his happiness on social media following the decision of the Davao RTC against Trillanes.
“Okay nako ani, Merry Christmas” Pulong wrote in his Facebook post together with the photo of the decision from the court.
Several weeks ago, Duterte also warned Trillanes that he would be insignificant after his term as Senator ends.
He also clarified that he’s not running as Congressman of Davao to seek revenge against Trillanes and he only want justice for the libelous statements of the Senator against him.
“Next Year, Mr. Trillanes will be worse than a non-matter. He will end his term as a senator like it is a blessing to the Filipino people- perhaps except for the few who believed in the lies he concocted against me and my family. As he is today, he will be worthless, I honestly do not seek revenge. What I seek is justice, I have filled cases against him and he should man up and face these cases in court. Apart from that, considering the insignificance and uselessness fo Mr. Trillanes, I will devote my time to serve the Dabawenyo’s”. Pulong said.
