Davao City – The Davao International Airport (DIA) management is assuring all passengers and the public that specific safety health precautionary measures are being practiced within the said airport’s facilities – more specifically the use of face shields for mass transportation.

In a virtual presser with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA 11), DIA Manager Engineer Rex A. Obcena discussed how vital it is for the DIA to remain vigilant in putting into practice the health safety protocols while also ensuring the protection of all the staff and tenants working within the DIA premises.

“For the well-being of everybody, we issued an airport advisory requiring all persons – airport employees, concessionaires, security personnel, etc. – entering the airport premises to wear face shields,” Obcena said.

The said advisory of the DIA management was crafted to add safety measures to the existing Department of Transportation’s (DoTr) Memorandum Circular 2020-14 or the mandatory wearing of face shields for passengers using public transportation.

The DIA management emphasizes that as of writing there have not been any reported serious violations of health safety protocols within the airport’s premises. Obcena credited the ample dissemination of information and the airport staff who ensure each passenger complies with the prescribed minimum health safety standards.

“We have not recorded any serious violations since before we implemented this, the public was amply notified and then there are a lot of staff who are closely monitoring each passenger before they enter the airport building,” Obcena added. (Kevin Caro)
