Davao de Oro:         The provincial government of Davao de Oro gives packages of vegetables and fruits to around 18,000 frontliners in the fight against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Davao de Oro.

The frontliners include the employees of the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospitals, members of around 230 Barangay Health and Emergency Teams (BHERT) and barangay functionaries, personnel in the Emergency Operations Center, Provincial/Municipal Health Offices, and Rural Health Units, and uniformed men from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and its reserve forces, and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy stressed that the act is a way of showing appreciation to the people, who risk their lives in this pandemic.

“Kini siya alang sa pagpangga kanila isip sila ang nag atubang aning pakiglaban nato sa COVID-19 dinhi sa atong probinsiya,” Governor Uy said. (This is to show our care/love to them as they are our frontliners in our fight against COVID-19 here in our province.)

The governor also placed notes, which he personally signed, to all of the packages.

The note says, “Among kinasing-kasing nga pagsaludo sa inyong serbisyo. Daghan salamat sa inyong kakugi, kadasig, ug paningkamot.” (Our heartfelt salute to your services. Thank you for diligence, enthusiasm, and all the effort.)

According to Emergency Operations Center, each package contains tomatoes, sayote, squash, eggplant, baguio beans, string beans, and banana.

The chief executive also emphasized that all the vegetables and fruits were bought from the local farmers in the province.

“Gipalit ni sa goberno gikan sa mga local farmer aron matagaan pud sila ug maayo na presyo,” he bared. (These were bought by the government from the local farmers so that they will be given with fair prices.)

A squash farmer in the province appreciated the move of the local government unit saying that without them in this time of crisis, their produce will just go to waste.

“Dako nakong pasalamat sa atong goberno sa pagpalit sa among kalabasa kay kami na mga mag-uuma mao lang ni among gisaligan,” he said. (I am very thankful to the government for buying our squash because as a farmer, we only relied on this.)

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Maria Carmen Zamora encouraged the public to support the frontliners by following the policies set by the authorities.

“Wala ta kabalo kanusa ni; ang panawagan nato sa atong katawhan sa Davao de Oro nga dako na gayud kaayo na tabang na magpabilin kitang magpuyo sa atong mga panimalay,”  (We don’t know when this will end; our call for the people in Davao de Oro is to help by staying at their houses.) she said.
