Davao City  –  The City Government of Davao through City Health Officer Dr. Josephine  J. Villafuerte, accepted 16 units of ambulance donated by the Department of Health (DOH) headed by Undersecretary Dr. Abdullah B. Dumama Jr, at the Public Safety And Security Command Center (PSSCC), Thursday morning.

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude through her message delivered via zoom, and highlighted the value of the new ambulances.

“The present health emergency has highlighted the need for governments to provide the public with better access to health care services, and given the expansive land area of Davao City – with 182 barangays, these emergency vehicles will definitely enable our barangay officials and the personnel from the district health offices to reach more individuals in need of emergency medical services,” she said.

“More ambulances mean that we are able to provide health care assistance to more Dabawenyos, and with this enhancement in health service delivery, we can contribute to the Philippine Health Agenda of attaining better health outcomes for all Filipinos,” the Mayor added.

The new ambulances will be distributed to clustered barangays in the 2nd and 3rd district.

Also present during the turn-over ceremony was Fr. Emmanuel “Bong” Gonzaga, DOH XI Regional Director Dr. Annabelle P. Yumang, and Representative of Congressman Vincent J. Garcia – Chief of Staff, Sherwin Manual. (City Information Office | OIC Michael Manguhig, RPN DXKT Davao)
