Davao City Locks Down Area In Agdao District

Davao City – The Davao City government has locked down one purok in Agdao District for 14 days starting in the afternoon of August 17 after registering an alarming number of coronavirus cases

The City Health Office (CHO) has recommended placing Purok 8 in Brgy. Tomas Monteverde, Agdao District after 65 residents tested positive of the coronavirus.

Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, the head of the CHO, said that her office conducted two (2) swabbing activities last week in the area and found 65 confirmed positive cases.

The residents who are confirmed positive cases were already moved out from their homes to a city-based temporary treatment and monitoring facility (TTMF).

Purok 8 has a population of more or less 200 people and in the danger of infecting their neighboring puroks and barangays if not placed under hard lockdown.

Health protocols and security measures will be strictly implemented in the area during the lockdown.

When an area is in hard lockdown, all residents are not allowed to enter or go out, until the transmission is contained.

Meanwhile, the city has assured residents of Purok 8 that they will receive food assistance during the 14-day lockdown period.

During Monday’s Special Hour of the Davao City Disaster Radio, Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO), and the City Agriculturist’s Office (CAO) will have them ready for distribution.

The city government has also advised the public to avoid Barangay Tomas Monteverde.

Purok 8 is the second area placed on hard lockdown after Barangay 23-C. (City Information Office)
