Zamboanga del Sur – On this Day of Valor, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IX (DA – RFO 9) headed by Regional Executive Director Rad Donn L. Cedeño conducted an outreach program in Sigacad, Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur on April 9, 2021.
The DA presented various package of technologies our farmer beneficiaries can avail from the program commodities namely Rice, Corn, High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), Livestock, and Organic Agriculture Program (OAP).
Lectures on rice, corn, cassava, and banana production, including organic farming and vermi composting were provided. Integrated pest and insect management was introduced to the farmers to minimize costly chemical application instead, Biological Control Agents (BCA) were offered for free by the Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC).
The farmer beneficiaries received assorted vegetables seeds (Pinakbet Seeds), 5 sacks of white corn at (20kls) per sack and various bags of Zinc Phosphide Ratkil. Their livestock were given free vaccination, deworming and assorted multi-vitamins (3 bottles of Albendazole, 9 bottles of Ivermectin).
Present during the outreach were the program coordinators, focal persons, and staff to promote the Plant, Plant, Plant Program of DA Secretary William D. Dar and to deliver the agricultural services in the remote areas of the region.
