COVID Cases In Negros Occ. Drop

Bacolod City – Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, Teresita Locsin Jalandoni Provincial Hospital officer-in-charge, said the number of new COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental posted a significant drop, from 308 on April 29, to 195.

The city of San Carlos remains on top of the list with 37 new cases.

Maestral said there is no let-up in the conduct of contact tracing and testing that hit 1,700 per day.

“We tested 10 persons for every positive patient,” Maestral said.

Active COVID-19 cases went as high as 317 cases per day to as low as 53 after a spike was noted in the second week of April, the TLJPH laboratory test results showed.

The province logged 4,039 new cases in April 2021 alone.

The local government units that logged cases in triple digits were San Carlos City with 372, Himamaylan and La Carlota (309 each), Kabankalan City (245), Bago City (219), Cadiz City (171), Murcia (164), Cauayan (158), Silay City (153), Binalbagan (146), Pontevedra (133), Ilog (115), and Toboso (112).
