COVID-19 Cases In Zamboanga City May Reach 4,000 By The Year Ends

The city health officer has revealed that the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) is predicting that Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Zamboanga City may reach to 4,000 cases by the end of the year.

City health officer, Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite told RPN DXXX Zamboanga, “CESU predicts that the cases (referring to Covid-19) can reach 4,000 by the end of the year.”

Currently, the city have 1,699 Covid-19 cases with 82 deaths, 1,192 recoveries, and 425 active cases.

Aside from these, the quarantine status of the city is Modified General Community Quarantine which more lax. This means, many people are now going out of their house especially to work.

The Covid-19 cases in the city continues to increase due to the increase in testing capacity of the city, sustained community transmission, increase contact and mobility, and some are not following the health protocols.

Because of this, the city health officer is reminding everyone to take care of each other by strictly following health protocol.

Health protocols includes: frequent hand washing, wearing of facemask, observing social distancing, and following proper cough and sneeze etiquette. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
