REIGNING World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight champion Johnriel Casimero will defend his belt against England’s Paul Butler on December 11 either in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, or Liverpool, England.

MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons told BusinessMirror on Friday that a new promotions outfit, Probellum, won the bid to promote the fight with a total purse of $105,000.

“Casimero is all definitely good, it’s December 11,” said Gibbons, who provided BusinessMirror with a screenshot of the WBO official tweet.

Casimero, according to boxingscene.com, is entitled to 75 percent or $78,750, while Butler secured 25 percent or $26,250 of the total purse.

Butler, 32, is sporting a 33-2 record with 15 knockouts.

Gibbons immediately told the 32-year-old Casimero (31-4 win-loss record with 21 knockouts), to fly to the US from his native Ormoc City to resume training.

Casimero remained in his hometown—hopping around and giving out sacks of rice to his neighbors—despite his promise to return to the US on October 1. He came home from the US last September 1.

Casimero was supposed to face off with World Boxing Council bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. in a unification fight, but that didn’t materialize. He ended up fighting Guillermo Rigondeaux last August 14 in Carson City and won via split decision.
