A local chief executive here said transferring the Negros Occidental provincial capitol to Talisay City is a necessity.

Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, who supports the transfer, said “It is more of necessity because of the congestion in the area (current location of the capitol).”

The mayor also said that the Provincial Engineering, Agriculture and the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) already have plans to put up offices in the 25-hectare property in Brgy. E. Lizares in Talisay City where the capitol will transfer.

He also shared that during the wake of former governor Alfredo Marañon, “we were asked by Gov. Bong what are the plans of the former governor.”

Escalante said the development plan submitted by Dynamic Builders involves the construction of a hotel and a commercial building at the site of the current Provincial Administration Center (PAC).

The new PAC building will house an office for the governor and a session hall of the Sanggunian Panlalawigan, he said.
