In a bid to provide a good and decent wake to those who can’t afford private funeral services, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro established the Funeral Home and Mortuary at the City Memorial Park in Bolonsiri, Barangay Camaman-an, this city.
On Friday, October 28, 2022, City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy led the blessing ceremony of the City Memorial Park, formerly the Bolonsiri cemetery site. This memorial park covers six viewing chapels, commercial spaces, and three new funeral hearses.
Engineer Armen Cuenca, the head of the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), in his speech, expressed his gratitude to Mayor Klarex for continuing the Cemetery Redevelopment Project which started during the administration of former City Mayor Oscar Moreno.
“Pasalamat ta kay gipadayon gyud kay nakita ni Mayor Klarex nga usa ni sa kinahanglanon, labi na sa atong mga kaigsoonang kabos nga maghaya lamang diha daplin sa dalan tuod kay piot ang ilang panimalay o kaha walay kwarta nga ibayad ngadto sa pribado nga memorial chapel,” Cuenca said.
The CLENRO head also assured that the City Memorial Park has already complied with all the requirements of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Health (DOH).
“Ang atong menteryo publiko sa Bolonsiri, first time nga duna tay permit to operate from the Department of Health,” Cuenca said.
