Davao de Oro – The Communications for Development Network Region XI (C4DNet XI) continues to communicate the right information towards making an informed and empowered citizenry.

The network is composed of various Public Information Officers (PIOs) and/or the duly designated representatives of the various National Government Agencies, Local Government Units, State Universities, and Colleges in the Davao Region.

Since its establishment in the year 2011, the organization has been an indispensable partner in supporting advocacies and activities of the government from conceptualization and preparations up to the actual conduct of events and even further. C4DNet XI also serves as the communication arm of the Regional Development Council (RDC) now chaired by Gov. Jayvee Tyron Uy.

On August 5, 2020, an Annual General Assembly of the organization was held via online teleconference following the new normal. The assembly was attended by the C4DNet Advisers Regional Director Maria Lourdes Lim of NEDA XI and RDC XI Vice-Chairperson, and RD Frances Mae Macapagat of PIA XI, Information Officer IV of PLGU-Davao de Oro and C4DNet XI President Fe F. Maestre. Resource speakers for the learning sessions were Public Health Education Officer of DOH XI Yasmin M. Avila, Director-General of National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) Alex Paul I. Monteagudo with Atty. Frederick Mikhail Farolan, and Director General Ramon Cualoping III of the Philippine Information Agency.

“In this time of Covid-19 pandemic conveying the right information is most crucial for building confidence and fostering cooperation amongst our people towards ending this crisis and rebuilding our economy. As such, our information officers play a crucial role in helping the government navigate this crisis” said NEDA Regional Director Lim.

Agenda discussed in the annual assembly were the organization’s accomplishments for CY 2019 and first semester CY 2020, the treasurer’s report, and C4DNet XI Action Plan for 2020.

A learning session was also held via online teleconference tackling updates on Covid-19 Community Engagement Strategy, Anti-Terrorism Law (RA 11479), and Effective Communication in the Time of Crisis in the New Normal.

Part of the Covid-19 Community Engagement Strategy of the Department of Health, the organization will be brought to its role in promoting and carrying out the BIDA Solusyon Campaign that will influence people in embracing the solution and to accept that each one is a “Bida” against the “Contravida”, the Covid-19.

During the learning session, the Anti-terrorism Law or the RA 11479 was also discussed by the body focusing mainly on the pillars of its establishment and the safety that the law would bring to the Filipino citizens.

Currently, the C4DNet XI has its hands full for the preparation of the virtual launch of the midterm update of the Davao Regional Development Plan that will take place on the 20th of August this year.
