Report on Buy-bust Operation On Trafficking of Firearm that Resulted in an Armed Encounter and Neutralization of the Suspect

 

On January 21, 2021 at about 7:03 PM in Purok Pag-Asa, Brgy. Canlanipa, Surigao City, Intel Operatives of Surigao City Police Station under the supervision of PLTCOL CHRISTIAN L RAFOLS II, Chief of Police conducted the aforesaid operation that resulted in the neutralization of Gideon Donguines Penida, aka Jun Penida, 39 years old, with live-in partner, security guard and resident of Don Julio, Barangay Canlanipa, Surigao City who is engaged in gun dealing agreed with the undercover police operatives. After the aforesaid suspect received the genuine P 1,000.00 peso as marked money together with Fourteen (14) pieces of Boodle-money (P1,000 bills) from one of the operatives the suspect sensed that he was dealing with police officers thus he fired shots towards the police operatives using a caliber .45 pistol which prompted the police officers to retaliate to defend themselves hitting the suspect on different parts of his body which caused his instantaneous death. Further, the subject suspect is a member of Militia ng Bayan (MB) of Front-16B served as the eyes and ears and the courier of CNT supplies.

During the crime scene processing conducted by personnel of Surigao del Norte Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (SDN-PCLO) led by PLT MARLON M GREJALDO and witnessed by a Kagawad of Brgy. Canlanipa, Surigao City and Media representative items seized from the possession and control of the suspect were as follows;

  1. a) one (1) caliber .45 pistol Colt with SN 15433
  2. b) one (1) magazine for cal.45 containing four (4) cartridges of cal.45
  3. c) five (5) FCC of 9mm
  4. d) two (2) FCC of cal.45
  5. e) one (1) fired bullet
  6. f) fourteen (14) thousand peso bills (Php 14,000.00) including buy bust money
  7. g) one (1) one-thousand-peso bill (Php 1,000.00) marked money
  8. h) one (1) unit cellphone color gray (my phone)
  9. i) one thousand four hundred twenty (php 1,420.00) assorted bills recovered from the bag of the suspect color black “Fila”
  10. j) thirty-three peso coins (Php 33.00) recovered from both pocket of the suspect

Thereafter, all confiscated items and pieces of evidence mentioned-above were under the custody of the SOCO, PCLO subjected for forensic examinations.

The aforesaid subject person has an approved CASE OPERATIONAL PLAN: COPLAN “Boo” dated January 11, 2021 which was submitted to SDN PPO.

The death and neutralization of the mentioned suspect will contribute to the decrease in the accounting of loose firearms in Surigao City and neighboring municipalities to include the deterrence of shooting incidents most likely.
