One member of the CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNT) was killed and 2 high-powered firearm, M16 and attached M203 grenade launcher, were recovered by the troops of the army’s 26th Infantry (Ever Onward) Battalion during an encounter with more or less 20 fully-armed CNTs while conducting combat operations in Brgy. Segunda, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur on January 20, 2021.
The encounter transpired at around 2pm and the fierce firefight lasted for 20 minutes. The 26IB conducted focused military operations in the area as a response to the reports of some concerned citizens that members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were seen roaming in the area and were planning to conduct atrocities against the government.
Other war materials such as 4 M203 ammunitions, 3 long magazines, subversive documents and other personal belongings were also recovered during the encounter. (2Lt. Cecille Tappa, acting CMO, 26IB | RPN DXKS)
