Benguet Police Recovered ₱1.6 Million Worth Of Marijuana Bricks

Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet – More than ₱ 1.6 million worth of abandoned marijuana bricks were recovered and confiscated in a passenger van in the early morning of November 19, 2020.

Bokod Municipal Police Station recovered an estimated 14 kilos of marijuana bricks with an estimated Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of ₱ 1,680.000 at Adonot, Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet.

Prior to the recovery of the said marijuana, Barangay Tanod Danly Colegieo informed the police that contraband was found abandoned in a passenger van bearing plate number LP ZJC 157 driven by Genaro Lamsis coming from Tabuk City.

Further investigation revealed that the driver conducted routine inspection on the baggage’s that were loaded into his van where he noticed a suspicious carton without marking that prompted him to inspect closely that led in the discovery of the marijuana bricks.

Strict implementation of checkpoints in all provincial entrance and exit were being conducted with the utilization of Narcotic Detection Dogs to deter unscrupulous individuals from using the province as a gateway in transporting illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, in an anti-narcotics operation a resident of Camp 7, Kennon Rd., Baguio City and listed in the Regional Top Ten Drug Personality was captured in Sumbrero, Ambuklao, Bokod in the afternoon of November 18, 2020.

Operatives of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) confiscated in his possession two (2) transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu worth ₱ 37,400; ₱ 1,000 boodle money; one cellular phone, and cash amounting to ₱ 5,000.

The following day afternoon of November 19, 2020, operatives of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) arrested a 44-year-old painter identified as A.K.A “Hapon”, native of Dingras, Ilocos Norte and a resident of Lower Engineer’s Hill,

He was apprehended near Cosmopolitan Hotel at Campo Filipino, Baguio City. Authorities recovered two sachets of suspected shabu, ₱ 500.00 buy bust money, and ₱ 1,500 boodle money.

Both arrested drug suspects are now facing charges for violation of RA 9165 known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. (PROCOR RPIO)
