Benguet People Reminded To Stay At Home

Governor Melchor Diclas appeals to the people of Benguet to continue to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the public health standards as COVID-19 cases in the province and nearby city of Baguio continue to rise.

During the Benguet Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) meeting, Diclas reminded his constituents to avoid non-essential travels outside their homes.

Diclas reported that as of August 07, the province already recorded 86 COVID-19 confirmed cases with 24 active cases.

“Always maintain proper hygiene by hand washing and regular sanitation and to always follow the minimum health requirements.” He stressed.

Diclas, a physician by profession emphasized that practicing physical distancing when outside residences and the use of face masks and even face shields and gloves especially for those in the sectors personally dealing with people or clients and those transacting money can help in the containment of the dreaded virus.

Meanwhile, on the reported cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza which resulted to the culling of more than 38,000 chicken layers in San Luis, Pampanga, The governor issued EO 2020-49 declaring a temporary ban on the entry of live birds, poultry meat and its products and chicken dung coming from the said area.

Chicken dung is being used by Benguet farmers as fertilizer in production of highland vegetables.
