The League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Benguet Chapter issued Resolution No. 05-2020, manifesting their opposition to the call for a conduct of special election for the vacated seat of Representative for the Lone Legislative District of the Province of Benguet.

Mayors of Atok, Bakun, Bokod, Bugias, Itogon, Kabayan, Kapangan, Kibungan, La Trinidad, Mankayan, Sablan, Tuba, and Tublay all signed the said resolution, having witnessed the passion of the solon to serve the people of Benguet. According to the town heads, there is no need to conduct a special election as the current legislative caretaker is already competent enough to lead Benguet.

Hon. Eric Go Yap of ACT-CIS Partylist was appointed to become the Legislative Caretaker of Benguet Last January 2020 after Benguet Representative Nestor Fongwan Sr. died on December 18 last year, of a lingering illness.
