After long years of waiting, the first Benguet hemodialysis center will soon serve the indigent patients of the province after the inauguration held today, May 12.

Benguet Caretaker Congressman Eric Go Yap, Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas, DOH Undersecretary Dr. Roger Tong-an, and DOH-CAR representative Dr. Alexei Marrero led  the simple inauguration ceremony for the hemodialysis center at the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH).

Dr. Meliarazon Dulay, Acting Chief of Hospital at BeGH, said the dialysis center with 10 sets of hemodialysis equipment can serve at most 27 patients a day.

Meanwhile, last year, Governor Diclas has been expediting the completion of the building project which was completed early this year. However, with other requirements needed after an inspection conducted recently by the DOH, the hospital is still processing a few more documents before the issuance of its License to Operate to finally start accommodating patients.

Usec. Tong-an said that the DOH will be providing 10 more sets of hemodialysis machines as the Provincial LGU plans to expand the facility to cater to more patients.

Cong. Yap in his part assures the people of Benguet that he will prioritize the improvement of the health services of the province.

The two existing dialysis centers at the BeGH are “free-standing” centers renting at the hospital.
