Batac: PGIN Capitolympics concludes with Team Violet’s victory

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte’s (PGIN) Capitolympics concluded with Team Violet’s raging victory, emerging as the overall champion after defeating Team Cyan in the basketball finals.

Capitolympics is a month-long recreational event where PGIN employees compete in various sports activities, including basketball, volleyball, Zumba dance competition, tug-of-war, “sipa,” and an obstacle relay.

Employees were divided into eight clusters by color, namely, Red (Agriculture and Environment), Black (Planning and Development), Cyan (Government Administration and Resources Management), Green (Finance and Revenue); Orange (Healthcare and Medical), Gray (Social Services and Welfare), Violet (Community and Public Service), and Blue (Legislation and Governance).

The event aims to provide a platform where PGIN employees can enjoy and have leeway from work and strengthen their camaraderie.

Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc highlighted the importance of this event, saying:
“Ito ay isang part ng ating camaraderie, teamwork, at ang ating friendship, and please know na bukas po ang aking opisina, at bukas po ang aking linya for you to contact me anytime.

Higit sa lahat ang pinakamahalaga ay magenjoy tayo and have a much deserve recreation and make sure na talagang healthy and happy ang ating PGIN family,” he added.

Team Violet dominated the basketball games with five (5) wins and zero (0) losses, standing triumphant after beating team Cyan in the finals.

Additionally, team Violet also emerged victorious in the volleyball competition in the men’s category, defeating Blue team in the championship game.

Meanwhile, after a close match-up between teams violet and orange, the latter won the championship in the volleyball competition in the women’s category.

This annual event is a testament to the Provincial Government’s commitment in maintaining good relationships among its employees and boosting their morale for a better quality of public service for the benefit of the Ilokano community.

“Let’s make sure we enjoy, socialize, respect, and appreciate our opponents, and we are grateful for the fact that we are able to play the sports with our dear colleagues,” Gov. Marcos Manotoc ended. (Laurence Alfred R. Espejo)
