Batac: Ilocos Norte delegation and Hawaii Tourism authority discuss ways to increase tourism exchanges

Ilocos Norte Governor Manotoc and his delegation were received by Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) officials, led by HTA Board Chairman and former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, last March 14 at the HTA office for discussions on tourism management and ways to spur visitor exchanges between Ilocos Norte and Hawaii. Also present at the meeting were HTA President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Daniel Nahoopii, Director for Tourism Research Ms. Jennifer Chun, Public Affairs Officer Ilihia Gionson, Consul Grace Bulos and former President of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii Ms. Vanessa Kop.

Mr. Hannemann recognized the contribution of the Filipino community to Hawaii’s tourism industry and the overall quality of life in the state. Briefings were also conducted on Hawaii’s tourism management efforts, the preservation and conservation of the environment, culture and values, the utilization of data to aid policy formulation, and HTA’s engagement with various stakeholders.

Governor Manotoc expressed the desire to see more tourists from Hawaii visiting the Philippines and closer engagement between their people.
