President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared Feb. 14, 2025 a special non-working day in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte to allow its residents to celebrate the town’s 71st foundation anniversary and be with their families and loved ones.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the municipality of Pagudpud be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” Marcos said in Proclamation 796 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Feb. 10.
Based on the proclamation, a longer weekend will also promote domestic tourism as Pagudpud is known for its pristine beaches, particularly in Saud, which is listed among the 25 Most Beautiful Beaches in the World by New York-based travel magazine Travel+Leisure.
As part of the celebration, a job fair participated by local companies will be held at the east side of the municipal plaza from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.
There will also be a blood donation drive and free issuance of birth, marriage, or death certificates at the municipal plaza.
A Miss Gay pageant will also be held in the evening, as well as a battle of the bands. (Leilanie Adriano)
