The City Government of Surigao is now in the preliminary planning of a Bamboo Plantation in the city to help local plant growers and provide more livelihood opportunities.
The possibilities for a Bamboo Plantation to rise in Surigao City were discussed as Central Mindanao University Professors and a non-government organization paid a courtesy call to Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II, earlier today, June 8, 2023.
The Philippines is among the top 10 largest exporters of bamboo in the world. Bamboo has been used for a lot of purposes for many years. The Philippines has been actively producing and processing bamboo products for construction, furniture and handicraft manufacture, food, musical instruments, farm and fishing implements, pulp and paper, and fuel for cooking and heating.
