The summer capital of the country will reopen its doors to tourists only from places under General Community Quarantine and Modified General Community Quarantine subject to health protocols starting April 17.

Baguio City can only receive 3,000 tourists daily on a first- come first- served basis from GCQ and MGCQ areas. Visitors must be responsible during their stay in the city.

The city tourism office reminds visitors to strictly follow the three simple requirements and protocols for them to be able to enter the city.

Visitors need to submit the required documents online thru visita.Baguio.gov.ph such as medical certificate, result of COVID-19 antigen or RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival. Before they can enter the city, they have to present their QR coded Tourist Pass at the border.

Further, the tourism office said that if test is unavailable or with invalid test result, an Antigen test can be conducted upon arrival at a price of P500.00.

Test is not mandatory for 17 years old and below, unless symptomatic and visitors must undergo the mandatory triage upon arrival.

Children under 15 years of age must be always accompanied by adults during their stay in the city.

The pandemic led to massive income losses in the city’s tourism industry and local businesses remained shuttered.

The reopening of Baguio for tourist despite this time of pandemic will somehow help the ailing industry to gradually recover. (Joseph Manzano, RPN DZBS Baguio OIC)
