Bacolod City – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has promoted Brig. Gen. Michael Samson, a Bacolodnon, to the rank of major general.

His promotion came after Samson was designated last month as commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, which supervises Philippine Army units stationed in Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Central Visayas.

Samson yesterday said that his promotion to the rank of major general took effect March 6.

He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1991. His two other classmates, Brig. Gen. Ted Dumosmog and Brigadier General Nhel Richard Patricio, are commanders of the 303rd and 301st Infantry Brigades, respectively.

Samson used to serve also as deputy and later as commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade in Negros Occidental. (Gilbet Bayoran via tvds)
