Bacolod: WV dengue cases breach 700

Bacolod City – Cases of dengue fever in Western Visayas have reached 700 mark, from January to February 11, with deaths remaining at seven, according to a report of the Department of Health.

Negros Occidental retains the top spot in terms of the number of dengue cases at 178, followed by Iloilo with 149, Antique – 78, Capiz – 64, Bacolod City – 63, Iloilo City – 51, and Guimaras – 14.

From Feb. 5 to 11, DOH regional office recorded 74 new cases, bringing to 705 the total numbers, compared to 249 cases in the same period of 2022, resulting in an increase of 183 percent.

Aklan recorded the highest increase in dengue cases this year at 94, compared to five cases in the same period last year, the report added.
