Bacolod City – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez is considering the possibility of entertaining another water concessionaire if Baciwa PrimeWater could not assure that it would install new pipes in Bacolod City to improve its services.

“I think after two years of operation of PrimeWater, there is still much to be desired from its operation,” Benitez said.

So, he will communicate again with PrimeWater because he believes there is a need for investment in a new piping system, he said, adding that “if we don’t invest in our water pipes, we will always have a problem involving sediments.”

If PrimeWater cannot assure the city that it will install new pipes in Bacolod City, they will entertain another concessionaire maybe thru public-private partnership, Benitez said.

The city is mandated to make sure that the delivery of basic services is at top most standards, he said.

PrimeWater had earlier presented short and long term solutions with the Bacolod City Government to solve water consumption issues that the city has been experiencing over the last several months.

The meeting was a response of Prime Water after the mayor initiated the Isugid Kay Mayor Citizen Water Watch in his official Facebook page, an online survey conducted  to recognize the pulse of the citizens regarding issues on electricity, waste, and water.
